This picture features one of my sculptured Lost Souls. He is placed here alongside my photographs — one of a beloved dog, and another of a bat at Yarra Bend, Melbourne.

The sculpture was inspired by the ancient use of masks to bestow humans with the essence or characteristics of animals and birds. Sadly, human actions have led to

the decline — and often extinction — of many such animals. We carry on blindly, and I see the outcome of this as a state of being impoverished, soulless, and lost.

Yet this soul is fortunate — he has the unconditional love of his dog.
