This picture is set in one of my photographs from Kruger Park, South Africa. It is created from a photograph of my sculpture of an endangered bird holding a human baby, which grew from a single, provocative question: What would it mean for humanity if our own survival depended on the protection and tenderness of another species?
In nature, every creature instinctively invests extraordinary energy, vigilance, and love into ensuring the safety of its young. Birds, mammals, insects — all display a fierce devotion to the continuation of life.

This picture invites us to reflect on the profound care woven through the animal world, and to consider our place within it. Rather than standing apart from other species, we are inseparable from them — and responsible for their survival.

This piece is both a meditation and a reminder: every living being is connected, and the future of the planet’s creatures rests, quite literally, in our hands.
